Morita chilli is a red and ripe jalapeno pepper. The process of smoking gives its smoky chocolate and coffee like characteristics.
These chillies are about 3-5cm long. The smoking process is shorter resulting in softer fruity flavour.
Because of this flavour profile, this chilli is a perfect substitute for Chipotle Chilli.
Furthermore, in Mexican cooking, they are the preferred for making salsa seca, or “dry salsa”.

Morita Chilli Cooking Suggestion:
- Combine fried peanuts, sesame seeds and garlic with the toasted dried Mortitas
- Also Season with salt and lime.
