Quandong or native peach is one of the well known bushfoods. Quandong is used in many dishes, savoury or sweet, to impart a tarty flavour to dishes.

This native bushfood has been an important traditional aboriginal fruit, which is, although somewhat tart, highly nutritious and contains twice the vitamin C of an orange. The kernel is also very nutritious but indigenous Australians tend to use this mainly for medicinal purposes.

Quandong Serving suggestions

  • Use in rhubarb tart
  • Make jam
  • Make quandong syrup and add to vanilla ice- cream
